Meet Jean Barker

From overseeing construction projects in the natural gas industry to cultivating peonies, Jean’s path to flower farming was anything but conventional. After a fulfilling career and a dedicated chapter as a stay-at-home mom to four children, Jean found herself drawn to the world of flowers during the isolation of COVID in 2020. Inspired by a flower farming book and an insightful online course, she discovered that her love of flowers and her solution-focused approach to projects could combine in the art and science of growing exceptional blooms.

What began as a love of sharing flowers with neighbors blossomed into a specialized farm focused on premium focal flowers—particularly peonies, which captured Jean's heart and determination. Even when faced with a devastating bacterial disease that wiped out nearly a third of her initial 1,000 peony plants, she remained undeterred, committed to mastering the cultivation of these magnificent blooms.

Today, the flowers grown in her mountain-view field in Bristol, TN bring joy to florists, event designers, and ultimately, the people who experience them in arrangements marking life's special moments.
